Your own developer portal: a preview of where the course takes you

Run the finished portal from the course on your laptop: Acme's teams and systems in the catalog, GitHub sign-in, a golden-path template with a custom action, and docs next to the code.

This is a preview, not the first step. It runs the finished portal with few explanations, so you can see where you are heading. To learn it, start the full course: it builds the same portal from create-app and explains every piece.

This preview

The finished portal, run from the reference repo. Commands to copy, few explanations. Good to see where you are heading, or as a demo for your team.

The full course

11 modules: config and secrets, Postgres, the catalog, discovery, sign-in, templates, a custom action, TechDocs, a production image and a capstone.

Your setup

Every command below uses these values. They stay in this browser and are shared with the full course. Needs Node.js 22 or 24, Yarn, Docker and gh.

    What just happened

catalog-info.yaml in Git ──> catalog (Postgres) ──> pages, search, ownership GitHub login ──(resolver)──> your User entity ──> your teams template form ──> scaffolder steps on the backend ──> repo + catalog entry docs/ in Git ──> TechDocs builds MkDocs ──> Docs tab

The full course builds this properly, one piece at a time, as the platform team and as team-checkout, and ships it as a Docker image. The reference repo has the finished portal.
